Ramsey Creek Chapel/Cross Roads Chapel, c. 1924

Picture
Around 2000, as we were planning for a chapel space at Ramsey Creek, we found that the Cross Roads Baptist Church was planning to demolish their old, and increasingly derelict, Cross Roads Number 2 Baptist Church, a wooden structure located less than 2 miles away. The congregation had moved to a new, brick church a couple of decades earlier.

We asked if they would be willing to sell it; they said it was a liability for them and, if we moved it, we could have it. A little research revealed that the church was built around 1924 after the older structure burned mysteriously. The move and two-year restoration was far more complicated and expensive than we thought, but the local community and some families of those buried at Ramsey Creek Preserve contributed labor, material, and money that made the restoration possible.

About the Chapel
The chapel is available for funeral services, baby blessings, weddings, organizational meetings, social clubs, and other gatherings, as well as being a contemplative space for visitors. It seats 50, with room for 25 more people standing around the back.

The chapel is free for funerals but other uses might incur a fee. Contact Kimberley to schedule your next event.
